CONTACT SALESBasic Linux familiarity helps, but modern tooling is friendly: Docker Compose deploys most apps in one command, and CasaOS, Coolify or Portainer add a web UI on top. If you can follow a tutorial, you can self-host.
A 2 GB Cheap VPS: 3–5 light apps (Vaultwarden, Pi-hole, Uptime Kuma). A 4–8 GB High-Performance VPS: 8–12 (Nextcloud, Gitea, Mattermost, Grafana…). Docker keeps each isolated with minimal overhead.
As secure as you make it - SSH keys, a UFW firewall, unattended security updates and HTTPS via Let’s Encrypt cover most vectors; Docker isolates the apps from each other. The privacy gain is unambiguous: your data stays on your server.

Largely. Nextcloud covers files/calendar/contacts, Collabora or OnlyOffice covers documents, Mattermost or Matrix covers chat, Plausible covers analytics. Email is the honest gap - most self-hosters keep email managed and self-host the rest.
Docker makes updates a pull-and-restart; Watchtower automates it. For critical apps many operators update manually after reading changelogs. Either way, you set the schedule - nobody force-migrates your UI on a Tuesday.
Point a domain at the VPS, run a reverse proxy (Nginx Proxy Manager, Traefik or Caddy) with Let’s Encrypt, and give each app a subdomain - cloud.you.com, git.you.com. Works like SaaS, lives on your server. Managed setup is available if you want it done for you.
