Self-hosting is as secure as you make it. Basic best practices - SSH key authentication, UFW firewall, automatic security updates, HTTPS with Let's Encrypt - cover most attack vectors. Docker isolates apps from each other. The privacy benefit is significant: your data stays on your server, not on a third-party platform.
